About Hummingbird Feeder Lab

Hummingbird Feeder Lab publishes hands-on reviews of backyard bird feeding equipment. Everything we rank is hung in a real yard outside Austin, Texas and observed for at least three weeks before it gets a score.

How we test

Feeders are rotated through the same pergola hook at the same height with the same nectar recipe, so weather and placement do not favour one product. We log peak simultaneous birds twice daily, nectar consumption, how long nectar stays clear, timed disassembly and cleaning, leak behaviour on hot afternoons, and ant or wasp intrusions.
